"Training in the martial arts has enlightened me so much in my life. I was an average student in high school. I made honor roll every semester after I started training in the martial arts. Martial arts taught me discipline, respect and confidence. I have used many of the martial arts principles to live my daily life. I am hoping to pass on these valuable lessons to my kids."

MBA, MCSE, MCSA

"Besides being a good way to work off stress, the confidence and sense of accomplishment I've gained in practicing martial arts has carried over into many other pursuits and interest in my life. I highly recommend the class to anyone up for the challenge.

If I'd known how good it was going to be for me, I'd have started taking Kenpo years ago. I'm in the best shape I've ever been, right now."

Visual Effects Artist

"Classes have been great for me personally, as I'm focusing on 'me' rather than responsibilities or other tasks. I always feel accomplished and have a sense of well-being after class. Thank you for that opportunity."

Alan A.
Software Engineer

"My job keeps me in front of a computer all day but I've managed to drop 20 pounds since I started! I like the fact that it's not just kicking and punching; I'm learning something and having fun doing it. I'm not a 'work out at the gym' kind of person but I enjoy the opportunity to get a good workout once a week in a friendly, motivating atmosphere."

Ben H.
Project Coordinator

"Thank you so much for the karate training. It has been such a delightful and valuable experience. I feel much more equipped to defend myself and my family should the need arise. Thank you for being such an encouragement - as a teacher and as a person. Thank you for your devotion to making each one of us succeed."

Bryant H.
Computer Engineer

"I leave each private training session spiritually fed and inspired. I didn't know that the Martial Arts could be practiced with the blessings of God. Meeting with 'Sensei' has shown me how I can train with God's full blessings and have the peace of the Lord in my heart. It has made all the difference in my training and in my life."

William B.
Network Engineer

"The private training sessions are a great way to supplement the regular group classes, especially if you can't make it to the class regularly. Personally, I am all for group classes. But add on a few privates here and there and you can really get some depth into your practice! Private training has been the perfect fit for me and my hectic schedule."

Victory Karate

Welcome to Victory Karate, the alternative to the McKarate Studios that you see at the mini mall, and the elementary karate class at the McRec center.

If you are looking for:

  • Greater productivity, effectiveness, & success in your personal & professional life;

  • Inspiration through achievement;

  • Unshakable self discipline, self respect, self control, and self confidence;

  • Increased strength and stamina in both body AND mind;

  • Infinite peace & courage;

  • Improved focus;

... all while having FUN and learning the techniques that can protect you and your loved ones, then VK might be just what you're looking for.

No other sport or activity will challenge and cultivate your mind, body, soul, and spirit like Victory Karate. I know, because I've been doing this for 30 years and have 2 Black Belt world titles. I have also been training and coaching people just like you for over 25 years - men, women, & children who have gone on to become successful doctors, lawyers, engineers, athletes, entrepreneurs... successful professionals at every level, as well as successful husbands & wives, mothers & fathers - all because they were able to gain, develop, and apply the self discpline of the martial arts to their lives.

Ready to sign up? Or just want to see the membership programs available? If so, then go here!

Before we go on, let's get a few things clear.

"How long does it take the average person to get a Black Belt? Average people don't get Black Belts."
Richard "Huk" Planas, 9th Degree Kenpo Black Belt

What VK is NOT: We are not a commercial school; we are not a "belt factory", aerobic kickboxing, or a social or political clique; we are not engrained with Eastern Mysticism or New Age, self-centered philosophies; and we are not filled with rampant ego and testosterone. If this is what you are looking for, then VK is not for you.

So what exactly is VK? Why do men and women like you choose to train at VK?

Physical Conditioning
Regardless of what shape you're in now, come just as you are and let us help you with the rest. Unlike any other workout, VK develops all 3 major aspects of physical conditioning at the same time:

Muscular Development: Tone and build muscle. Improve your posture and your appearance. Sleep better at night.

Cardiovascular Endurance: Stengthen your heart and lungs. Increase your bloodflow and energy level.

Flexibility: Reduce your risk for injury. Be free from lower back pain. Have freedom of movement.

All while teaching you the techniques on how to effectively defend yourself. And statistics show that those who know how to defend themselves are far less likely to get into a confrontation because of the confidence they are able to convey from the inside out.

Fun & Challenging
When it is fun AND challenging, you will be more consistent and enthusiastic. You will look forward to each class. You will see the results happening for yourself, which will make you want to keep coming back for more.

Encouraging & Inspiring
In Hawaii, they use the term ohana, or "family". In VK, we are family, brought together to help one another. We are able to achieve our goals and beyond because we lift up and support each other. When someone tests, when someone competes, it is a reflection of the entire group's preparation, support, and encouragement.

Also, unlike some of the savage, tattoo-laden fighters of the recent Mixed Martial Arts trend, at VK, you still learn virtues such as honor, integrity, respect, and humility, which are so lacking in today's world.

Go here to see how you can join us!

Practical & Engaging
VK is based on Ed Parker's American Kenpo system, a comprehensive and practical training methodology that can make a skilled and successful fighter out of ANYONE, even those not naturally gifted physically. This is what makes Kenpo so unique in comparison to other martial arts, where youth and athleticism are so vital. It incorporates basic strikes, blocks, and kicks through a rich curriculum containing self defense techniques, forms, and freestyle sparring.

Self Defense Techniques: Practical applications to various attacks. Learn the specific theories necessary in hand to hand combat on the street. Hand to weapon and weapon to weapon theories are also covered.

Forms: Self defense techniques arranged in a specific sequence. Develop your stamina, coordination, and focus through this dictionary of motion and movement.

Freestyle sparring: Utilize the theories of combat and apply them in the ring in a controlled, yet highly dynamic atmosphere.

Combine this with the joint locks & grappling of Jujitsu, and the result is a very balanced fighter (Kenpo is said to be America's first Mixed Martial Art): one who is in top physical condition, able to compete at the highest level, and convey confidence in all areas of life, including any self defense situations.

Students are also encouraged to know "Why?" & "How?" rather than just following blindly. At VK, we develop leaders who will one day pass on the knowledge and develop leaders of their own. At the same time, VK maintains the philosophy that the learning never stops, and that we will always be students. "The road to excellence is always under construction."

Independent, non-commercial, and non-political
Have peace of mind knowing that at VK you're not just a number to help pay an upline association. The focus is to train hard and train smart, to grow as a person and as a group. Remember, at VK, you're part of our family.

We get invited to attend various events that cross all lines, whether different associations, affiliations, and even styles. We freely enjoy the best of all worlds.

Semi-private (Lots of 1-on-1 attention!)
At VK, we're not interested in numbers. We want quality. And when the head instructor can tend to you regularly 1-on-1, well, the results speak for themselves. Just read below.

Only once a week!
Yes, that's right. We only meet once a week. Why pay extra money to a commercial school for fancy painted trim or extra classes you won't have time to go to anyways? You should be paying for the knowledge and experience of the teaching.

We train hard, but we also train smart. Your body can't take the constant stress of training everyday, especially if you also enjoy doing other activities, such as biking, lifting weights, or playing basketball. We train hard one day per week, then you can review the material 2-3 times per week on your own time as your body recovers. This training methodology has worked for me for over 25 years (And remember, I have 2 Black Belt world titles); it works for my students (all with full-time professional careers, some married, some with children); and it will work for you.

Go here to sign up now!

If you think that by having class only once a week that you won't be "as good" as someone training in a commercial school, guess again. The results speak for themselves: We compete alongside those same commercial schools - and have even greater success! We have placed in every competition we have entered. And not just in one category, but in all events, including sparring, forms, and self defense.

So if this sounds good to you, then you need to contact me to see if you would be a good fit with our group. To be honest, while everyone is welcome to come by and check us out, we're only looking for the select few men & women who feel a calling to be a part of our group.

We don't have nice floors, shiny mirrors, or fancy pagoda trim. And we don't have classes 6 or 7 days a week. These items are nice, but certainly not necessary to make you a successful martial artist. I should know; some of the best training in my life has been done in churches and garages. It's not the location and cosmetics that are important. It's the teacher and the knowledge that is passed down; it's the encouragement and support of the other students; it's the inspiration from training hard, training smart, and accomplishing your goals.

Sound too good to be true? Well, here's the disclaimer, as stated in our FAQ:

This is NOT a franchise business for the masses. This is a privately-run, championship-caliber program. The workouts are highly rigorous and demanding. Not everyone has the work ethic, desire, or capacity to do what we do. This is what separates us from the commercial karate business down the street. This doesn't mean that everyone has to be a world-class athlete to participate. In fact, your commitment to train and constantly improve is far more important than any physical abilities (Though a good sense of humor certainly helps). Yes, beginners are welcome. But only those who "fit" will be invited and accepted to train with us. The workout and curriculum both quickly weed out those who lack the commitment to make themselves and those around them the best they can be (iron sharpens iron).

And there you have it.

So if you want to:

  • Train with a 2 time world champion;

  • Be part of an encouraging atmosphere where you have the freedom to learn;

  • Get a great workout that challenges all of your mind, body, emotions, and spirit;

  • Know what it feels like to exceed your own expectations;

  • Walk taller than you ever have before;

  • Know what it means to have love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control, even in the midst of battle;

... then you need to contact me and answer the calling. A person of your caliber needs to be a part of our group.
